Christmas gift ideas for mums-to-be

If you’re shopping for Christmas presents for a mum-to-be and need a little inspiration, look no further! I’ve pulled together some suggestions for gifts that might just be the perfect treat for a pregnant woman in your life – because, let’s face it, she most definitely deserves a treat!

The best thing about the following suggestions is that you can find most (if not all) of them from small businesses. I’ve included the details of a few independent brands I love, but there are plenty of others out there too, so please do try and shop small if you can – they need your support this year more than ever.

Glow Mama Box

Who doesn’t love a bit of happy post? This subscription from Glow Mama Box delivers a monthly dose of happiness in the form of indulgent self-care goodies. We all need to prioritise self-care more – whether pregnant or not – and there’s something about having a box delivered each month that really encourages us to find moments for me-time.

Each box includes around five gorgeous products with a minimum total RRP of £60. One month it might be lip balms and bath bombs, another it could be some delicious chocolate and mindfulness resources to inspire reflection and positivity. It’s beautifully wrapped too, so unboxing feels like a luxury in itself. You can buy a one-off box or gift a subscription for three or six months, and Glow Mama gives 5% of all profits to Pandas Foundation, a charity helping families coping with perinatal mental illness.

GLØD

GLØD is a London-based brand that makes the most divinely scented hand-poured candles, mineral bath salts and essential-oil blends. Everything is made with all-natural ingredients including vegan-friendly soy wax, pure essential oils, Himalayan Pink Rock Salt and Dead Sea Salt, so there are absolutely no concerns about nasty ingredients (it blew my mind when I discovered many scented candles are made with paraffin wax and give off harmful toxins). There are lovely gift sets available too, which come wrapped and ready to pop under the tree!

What makes GLØD truly memorable is that each of their signature scents is designed to celebrate an inspirational woman – the collection currently features Florence, Ivy, Malala, Rosa and Marianne. What’s more, every purchase helps GLØD to support the charity Women for Women International, a charity that helps female survivors of war rebuild their lives.

Don’t Buy Her Flowers

In the early days of parenting a newborn there’s a lot of uncertainty, but one thing you can guarantee is that a new mum will be spending a lot of time sitting down feeding her little one. She’ll need to keep her energy up (especially if she’s breastfeeding) but might not have a lot of time to organise snacks and drinks for herself. So a hamper of edible goodies will definitely be a welcome gift!

You can put one together yourself or check out the Create Your Own option from the gurus of gift packages, Don’t Buy Her Flowers. You can even choose to add a book, some luxury toiletries or a tipple or two!

Food, glorious food!

Food shopping and cooking are often the last things new parents want to think about. If you can give them the gift of a night or two off, you’ll definitely be up there on their list of favourite people!

There are a few ways you can do this. If you’re a whizz in the kitchen, why not make them some delicious meals and freeze them? That way they can dig into a home-cooked dinner in minutes. Alternatively, you could see if their favourite pub or takeaway does gift vouchers, or send a gift card from HelloFresh or Mindful Chef so they have everything they need to cook a fast, nutritious meal in no time.

Online Workouts with LDN Mums Fitness

This one is a really thoughtful gift for any mum-to-be who’s really active but might struggle to get to her usual gym sessions or classes once the baby arrives. LDN Mums Fitness offers a huge bank of HIIT, cardio, core, and holistic fitness videos that are available on-demand 24/7, so a busy mum can fit in a workout whenever, wherever it suits her.

And of course, if you are shopping for an active mum-to-be then you definitely need to take a look at our innovative collection of activewear! From squat-proof maternity leggings to sports bras and tops that make it effortless to breastfeed on the go, it’s the go-to for any woman who loves to workout and/or loves to live in activewear. Everything is designed for comfort, functionality and classic sporty style throughout pregnancy and beyond. Check it out now!

Stocking fillers for mums-to-be

If you’re in search of smaller gifts and stocking fillers for mums-to-be, I’ve got some ideas for these too!

Fluffy socks

I mean, is it even Christmas if you don’t get given socks?! My feet used to get f-f-f-freezing during night feeds (Harper was a winter baby), so anyone having a baby in the chillier months will definitely be glad of a super-cosy pair.

Thermal mug

It’s a cliché, but sadly it’s true: a hot cuppa tends to be as rare as unicorn poo once you have a baby! A thermal mug can increase the chances of her hot drink of choice at least being lukewarm by the time she gets to it!

Non-spill water bottle

Staying hydrated is, of course, always important, but it tends to be one of those things that falls to the bottom of a new-mum’s list of priorities. Having a HUGE refillable water bottle she can keep topped up is a must, but be sure to choose one that can be opened one-handed while holding a wriggly baby! And you’ll get bonus points if it’s non-spill, because it WILL at some point end up on its side on the sofa or bed!

Spacemasks

These self-heating eye masks are perfect for shutting out the world and switching off for a bit of me-time. They’re super useful if mama is trying to catch up on some sleep during baby’s daytime naps, as they block out the light and lull you off to sleep with their gentle warmth and subtle jasmine scent.

I hope this blog has inspired you to tick that mum-to-be off your Christmas shopping list with a gift she’ll love. If you have any other suggestions for particularly lovely or useful gifts for pregnant women, do leave a comment below – I’d love to hear it.

Happy shopping!
